2019 update – first quarter
Our worship & media team started work on a few initiatives this winter, the biggest being a 12 week audio class for our sound crew. The team is also working on order of service ideas and ways to improve announcements.
Memorial funds were used to purchase a few Hymns of Grace hymnals by Master’s seminary, and a congregation member donated the rest! This hymnal is up-to-date with dozens of newer hymns, is a favorite of Pastor Dan and Pastor Josiah’s, and is more in line with our church’s doctrinal statement.
The new website is underway, and is scheduled to be up and running this Fall. Our web manager, Kevin Pierpont, is doing the update for free!
In addition, we will be moving to an app called ChurchCenter available on most smart phones. Just download and search “Orangeville.”
Our first major prayer initiative will be April 28 – May 1.
Growth Groups are scheduled to launch on May 5th. You can choose a group based on night of the week, childcare, or location. There will be a limit to group size, as well, so it will be first come, first served. More info to come!
Coffee & Connect is coming this summer! It will start 30 minutes before Sunday School and run until 5 minutes before the a.m. service. Donations will be accepted for the ongoing purchase of coffee and food and to support our faith promise missionaries.
Our current counselors have been meeting Mondays at 4 p.m. to encourage each other, pray for the counseling ministry, and create a pathway for training up others. Please be praying that God brings us godly men and women to help in this area!
Pastor Andrew has done a great job developing our Sunday school curriculum to make sure it covers all the main areas of Christian life and theology. Some honing is still in process, but we’re almost there!
When we’re done memorizing Isaiah 52:13—53:12, we’re going to start a program called “Fighter Verses.” There is an app for this program, as well, available on most smart phones. Check it out at fighterverses.com.
Our welcome team is rocking it! We’ve had over 20 visitors in the past 3 months. Our biggest need now is for more people to join the welcome team. If you are interested, contact Pastor Andrew.
We took the renovation sign down!
Big thanks to Chuck Dennany, Curt Visser, Mike Blair, the Robarts, the decorating ladies, Pat Kammerad, Kelli Matteson, and Jo Chamberlin, and everyone who partnered with them in this process!
Kevin Pierpont has nearly completed a new website for our counseling ministry!
Also, head start on 2020…
A feature of the ChurchCenter app mentioned above is the ability to sync our church calendar to your personal calendar. This will also let you see all of your commitments in one place, if you are on more than one ministry team.
