Spotlight on Missions

From Bob & Phyllis Homan

“After many hours of labor, the barn is finished at the Valley. The roof had waited all winter to be finished, shingled, and the walls to be mudded.  Today the last shingles were put on the cap of the roof.  The cracks between logs were mudded or filled with cement by a church youth group.  The Valley staff finished the peaks.  Now there are two authentic MI History buildings completed in 1837 style – the cabin and the barn.  Twelve smaller ones will be added as time and materials are available.  The oxen are also ready.  West Benton church, where Bob pastors, held its Vacation Bible School July 20-24.  Bob had considered doing it all, but then out of wisdom had our area worker, Al Torres, come and do the stories with RBM visuals.  Our Bible Drills and Song Drills are always favorites.  This year one Bible Verse each night included a Reverse Bible Verse.  The verse was quoted, and the person had to give the reference.  Our daughter Jane came up with this plan.)  WOW! It makes one think.  Our church really got involved this year.  Bob taught the related choruses and used the Moses theme from several years.  As we mentioned in our previous letter, nobody has DVBS illustrated like RBM visuals.”
